Guam Journey, Part 4

Okay, last thoughts on my trip to Guam. Christina and her husband hosted us in the most incredible way. The first morning in their home, we woke up to the smell of biscuits and gravy and coffee. The coffee was so unbelievable that I cried after my first sip. Not just because it tasted amazing, but because I felt the hospitality of Jesus through her as she served us.

Rooming with Joanna all week turned into what we now we refer to as the “Guam Giggles.” It’s like we reverted to our high school selves. We stayed up until midnight or later every night - even after promising each other that day that we’d go to bed early - and we would just tell stories and laugh until we couldn’t breathe. Every single night. I’ve never experienced anything quite like that. It was such a gift from God to experience joy and laughter in that way.

One night we gathered with the women who are a part of this church. We reflected on our lives, the joys and the sorrows, and shared our stories. We talked about our low points and where we’ve seen God. We talked about what he’s set us free from. I’m never over the fact that God orchestrates our stories in a way that not only give us freedom, but invite others into freedom as well. We left that evening feeling so encouraged.

God’s invitations to us can feel new and exciting and scary and uncomfortable. I’m so thankful I had this opportunity. Mike and Jenn - I love watching you follow God in this big, amazing, wonderful, hard thing, and I am just proud to know you.
